Why this bean: for a decaf, this coffee is nothing short of radiant and spectacular! Each sip brings a rush of chocolate and spice (we taste nutmeg) flavors with an distinct undertone of sweetness (think caramel). This Colombia Valle del Cauca decaf has become a staple for late afternoon / early evening espressos
About the Origin: this bean is grown in Cauca Valley at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,100masl, and with surrounding mountains that create stable year-round microclimate in the valley. This is just one of the large variety of coffees that contribute to making Colombia the world's third largest coffee producer.
Decaffeination: sugarcane is one of a myriad of crops grown in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. It is not surprising, then, that the decaffeination process for this bean utilizes ethyl acetate from sugarcane.
