Why this Bean: handpicked and sorted for their uniqueness, this small peaberry bean may have resulted from a genetic mutation but it has a huge personality! And in this medium-light roast, it opens with a delicate floral note (think chamomile), then opens into a bright burst of citrusy tangerine, and rounds out into a smooth and velvety chocolate finish. To sum it up, this bean makes as think: "Small Bean. Big Personality"
Let us know what you think about it.
Know your Coffee: a blend of mostly Kent and Bourbon varieties. these 'peaberry' coffee beans are a genetic mutation that results in only one seed developing in the cherry (instead of two). Peaberries are typically smaller and denser than regular beans and occur only 5-10% of the time (which means it takes a lot of patience and labor to pick them out)
About the Producers: this Peaberry comes from approximately 350 farmers associated with the award winning Isaiso Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) whose coffee production units are used to process freshly harvested cherries from member farms.
Fun fact: while Tanzania may be the most commonly known producer for Peaberry coffees, they are not unique when it comes to producing these genetic mutants with delicious flavors.
